Why live-in care?

Live-in care means that you, or your loved one, will have someone there to provide assistance 24 hours a day. Live-in care may be required on a short-term or long-term basis, depending on each individual’s requirements. We provide our London based clients, and their families, with exceptional support and reassurance no matter what the time of day – or night.

Why our patients choose Harley Street Care

Providing live-in care for extra support

Caring day and night

Some people worry about having 24-hour care. Having someone who is always there when you need them is essential – but we all need a little personal space.

At Harley Street Care we realise that having a live-in carer doesn’t mean you want, or need, constant attention – sometimes it’s just reassuring to know you’re not alone.
Whilst our carers are happy to attend to your every need, they are also just as happy to retreat to another room and catch up on chores or paperwork. Your needs and preferences are paramount and we will always respect your decisions and requests. This is essential in a live-in care setting as our carer is a guest in your home.

Our specialist live-in care service offers a comprehensive support package provided by our friendly and experienced management team. We can cover everything that you may need to stay in the comfort of your own home – from housekeeping, personal care and shopping to researching mobility equipment or liaising with tradespeople over routine property maintenance matters.

How Harley Street Care can help with live-in care

Live-in care is always about you and your preferences

Our live-in service is not just for older clients. We can provide 24-hour support for whether you need:

Whatever your need for support we will try our very best to find the ideal carer for you.

Whilst working on a live-in package, carers will provide an average of 10 hours of care over each 24 hour period. Preferred hours can be agreed between the client and the carer.

In order to receive live-in care, clients are required to provide a private room for their live-in carer during their stay. Shared facilities such as wash areas and kitchens are acceptable.

When providing a package of live-in care, we must ensure that our carers are allowed 8 hours of down/rest time within a 24 hour period. If the client regularly wakes and requires assistance more than twice during the night time, an additional carer for night shifts can be provided at an additional cost.

Carers are entitled to break or respite of 2 hours per day or alternatively as larger blocks on fewer days.. Times and days for break/respite can be agreed between the client and the carer. A respite carer can be provided by the agency if required at an additional cost.

It is common practice for the carer to purchase, prepare and eat food with their clients, there is no obligation for the client to provide food for their carer, however, should the client choose to do so, then a budget of up to £50 per week is permissible and does not breach company policy on gifts and/or financial abuse.

Carers are able and willing to help or assist with managing their client’s finances if required, however, there are strict guidelines in place to govern this to ensure the protection of the client and the carer.

If the occasion should arise that the client’s regular live-in carer is unavailable, unwell or unable to provide care, the agency will provide an emergency cover carer in their place. There would be no additional charge for care at this time.

It is our mission to create a bespoke package of care that suits our clients, so in the case that a client is unhappy with their selected carer, we will work together to find a new candidate that is better suited for the role. If the client wishes for the current carer to be removed from the package immediately, we can provide an interim carer until a new long term live-in carer has been chosen.

Here at Harley Street Care your life, best lived, is our priority.
